Len Grenier,
President & CEO

A long time entrepreneur, Len Grenier was a cofounder of ALI in 1986 and a Director for the early development of the company. He held the senior technical role from inception of the company through it's acquisition in July 2002 by McKesson Inc. Len's most recent role at ALI was Senior Vice President of Engineering and Chief Technology Officer. As well, his responsibilities included Inbound Product Management and Regulatory Affairs. Mr. Grenier brings a wealth of experience in the development of medical software companies providing multi-facility integrated solutions in a regulated environment. Len assumed the role of President and CEO of Cogent in April 2006.



Mark Thomson

Mark Thomson's career includes over two decades within the health sciences industry, with direct experience in the medical device, diagnostic, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. Prior to joining Cogent, Mark was President of MDX Medical, a Vancouver-based, publicly traded, early stage medical device company. Before this, Mark was also President & CEO of SelfCare Diagnostics Inc., another early stage, Vancouver based medical diagnostics start-up company and President of Helena Laboratories Canada Limited, a medical device and diagnostics company he started for the US parent company. Mark has also held senior positions with GE Medical Canada Limited and Ingram and Bell Medical, formerly Canada's largest medical and surgical products company. In addition to an active career, Mark is a former Director and Treasurer of the BC Medical Technology Industry Association, member of the New Ventures BC mentor panel and former student mentor for the Vancouver Board of Trade's Leaders of Tomorrow program. Mark has also been an active speaker for the Westlink Innovation Network, an association dedicated to the commercialization of scientific inventions. Mark holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Western Ontario, a Master of Business of Administration from the Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and is a graduate and Fellow in the Canadian Institute of Management.



Peter van Bodegom
Chief Financial Officer

Mr. van Bodegom has over 30 years of business experience. He spent 14 years with Peat, Marwick Mitchell & Co (a predecessor firm to KPMG) where he obtained his CA and practiced in the insolvency and bankruptcy area. In 1987, he co-founded ALI Technologies, a health informatics company, for which he was the VP Finance for seven years. He left in 1994 when the company went public on Vancouver Stock Exchange. ALI was purchased by McKesson in 2002 for $530 million. From 1995 to 1998, he was CFO for a publicly traded plastic injection molding company. In 1999, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP. He is involved in advising early stage technology companies from a strategic and financial perspective.

He is a speaker at the semi-annual Angel Forum for the past 4 years. He has spoken to the annual conference on Entrepreneurship and Innovation. He is angel investor in early stage technology companies and has a keen interest in strategy and entrepreneurship. As a volunteer mentor for Telus New Ventures BC, he coaches entrepreneurs and startup companies.

His educational background includes an undergraduate degree in Commerce (University of Toronto, 1972), a Canadian Chartered Accountant designation in 1975, a MBA from Simon Fraser University (1986) and a CPA (Illinois) 1998.


Malcolm Wright,
VP, Product Management

Malcolm Wright joined Cogent in October 2005 and currently serves as Director of Product Management. Prior to his role at Cogent Mr. Wright served as VP Product Management for Source Medical Solutions - the leading provider of outpatient medical information system in the United States. At Source Medical, Mr. Wright oversaw the commercialization, product planning and product definition for TherapySource, a suite of clinical products used by 30% of outpatient rehabilitation providers in the U.S. Before this Mr. Wright was Director of Clinical Software Solutions at Healthsouth Corporation. In this role he oversaw the design and development of HCAP the company's core clinical system. While initially an R & D project, this system achieved high levels of acceptance from end-users and senior management. It is currently deployed to 5,000 end-users in 800 Healthsouth facilities, managing over 30,000 patient visits a day. Mr. Wright has also served as a consultant overseeing the design, development and deployment of software products in a number of sectors including Electric Utility, Medical Laboratory and the Federal Government. Mr. Wright holds a Diploma of Technology (Honours) from the British Columbia Institute of Technology as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Honours) from the University of British Columbia.



Rob Chartier,
Director, Software Development

Rob Chartier has developed IT solutions for more than 13 years with a diverse background in both software and hardware development. He is internationally recognized as an innovative thinker and leading IT architect with frequent speaking engagements showcasing his expertise. He's been an integral part of many open forums on cutting-edge technology, including the .NET Framework and Distributed Computing.

He uses expertise with many Microsoft technologies, including .NET, and a strong background in Oracle, BEA Systems, Inc.'s BEA WebLogic, IBM, Java 2 Platform Enterprise Edition (J2EE), and similar technologies to support his award-winning writing. He frequently publishes to many of the leading developer and industry support Web sites and publications. He has a bachelor's degree in Computer Information Systems. He has been awarded the Microsoft MVP status in Asp/ASP.NET for the past 4 years and has been a member of the AspInsiders since its inception.
